“آپ نے مجھ سے شادی کیوں کی؟” لاؤنج میں صوفے پر بیٹھ کر جوتے اتارتا ہوا ریحان اس کے سوال پر ٹھٹکا تھا۔ مگر جواب بظاہر عام لہجے میں دیا تھا۔ “بتایا تو تھا ۔۔۔” “آپ یہ ثابت کرنا چاہتے تھے کہ ایک اعلا تعلیم یافتہ شخص گاؤں کی ایک کم پڑھی لکھی لڑکی کے ساتھ گزارا کر سکتا ہے۔ اپنے باپ کو غلط ثابت کرنا چاہتے تھے آپ؟” وہ الجھے ہوئے لہجے میں پوچھ رہی تھی۔ “کیا فضول باتیں کر رہی ہو تم ؟” اس سے ہمیشہ دھیمے لہجے میں بات کرنے والے ریحان کی آواز یکدم اونچی ہوئی تھی۔ “اگر یہ سچ نہیں ہے تو پھر سچ کیا ہے؟” “میں تھکا ہوا ہوں تم اپنی یہ فضول بکواس بند کرو۔” “آپ کو کسی قدامت پسند مرد کی طرح خدمت کے لیے باندی نہیں چاہیے تھی، مجھے دیکھ کر آپ فدا نہیں ہوئے، کسی نے آپ کو مجبور نہیں کیا ، تو کیوں کی ایک ایسی لڑکی سے شادی جو آپ کی ٹکر کی نہیں تھی۔ کوئی وجہ تو ہوگی نا؟” آج وہ بھی چپ ہونے کو تیار نہیں تھی۔ “اچھا غلطی ہوگئی۔ معاف کردو۔” جو وہ کہہ رہی تھی وہ دل کے اتنے پاس جا کر لگا تھا کہ وہ بھڑک اُٹھا تھا۔ “ہاں غلطی ہوئی۔ بہت بڑی غلطی۔ دیکھیں آپ مجھے چار باتیں تک کرنے کے قابل نہیں سمجھتے۔ لوگوں کے سامنے آپ کو ثابت کرنا پڑتا ہے کہ آپ خوش ہیں اس شادی سے۔” وہ رو پڑی تھی۔ “پتا ہے کیا۔۔۔؟” وہ روتے روتے اذیت سے مسکرائی تھی۔ “جسے آپ غلط ثابت کرنے چلے تھے ، اُسے سچ ثابت کر دیا آپ نے۔” وہ روتے ہوئے اُٹھی تھی اور ایک دوسرے کمرے میں جا کر خود کو بند کر لیا تھا۔ ریحان چند منٹ وہیں بیٹھ کر اپنے جذبات پر قابو پانے کی کوشش کرتا رہا۔ پھر اُٹھ کر اُس کا دروازہ کھٹکھٹایا تھا۔ “بتول دروازہ کھولو۔” دو تین بار پکارا تھا۔ مگر اُس نے دروازہ نہیں کھولا تھا۔

“دیکھو بتول ہمارے ہاں نوے فیصد شادیاں صرف اس لیے کی جاتی ہیں کہ شادی تو کرنی ہوتی ہے۔ اس کی صیح اور غلط وجوہات کے بارے میں نہیں سوچا جاتا۔ آگے ان دو انسانوں پر ہوتا ہے وہ اس تعلق کو کیسے نبھاتے ہیں۔” وہ دھیمے لہجے میں بہت رسان سے بات کر رہا تھا۔ “اب ہماری شادی ہو چکی ہے۔ جس بھی وجہ سے ہوئی ہے۔ اب آگے ہم پر ہے کہ ہم اسے کیسے نبھاتے ہیں۔ اور یہ ٹھیک ہے کہ ہم دونوں ایک دوسرے سے بہت مختلف ہیں۔ مگر تم ینگ ہو ابھی۔ یوکین گرو اور میں ہیلپ کر سکتا ہوں تمہاری۔۔۔” ‘تا کہ میں آپ کے قابل بن سکوں؟” بتول نے دھیمے لہجے میں سوال کیا تھا۔ اس کے کہنے کا مطلب تو یہی بنتا تھا مگر بہر حال اس نے بتول کے سوال پر ہاں یا نہ کرنے سے گریز کیا تھا۔ چند لمحے بتول نے اُس کے جواب کا انتظار کیا تھا۔ پھر ساتھ والی کرسی سے بیگ اٹھا کر اسٹریپ کندھے پر جمائی تھی۔ “ایدا توں شہزادہ گلفام….. ہنہہ!” وہ سر جھٹک کر اٹھی تھی اور پیر پٹختی داخلی دروازے سے باہر نکل گئی تھی اور وہ یہ نیا روپ دیکھتا رہ گیا تھا۔
