افرا بیگم نے بس “الحمدللہ” کہا، تو فریال کرسی پر بیٹھتے ہوئے اشمل کی طرف دیکھتے ہوئے بولی، اشمل ، ایسا کرو، مجھے کھانا لا دو بیٹا ،  طبیعت عجیب سی ہو رہی ہے۔

کیوں، مسسز زبیر ، میرے رشتے کھا کھا کر اب تک آپ کا پیٹ  بھرا نہیں ؟ اشمل نے  پُرسکون انداز میں دونوں  ہاتھ باندھ کر فریال کی آنکھوں میں آنکھیں ڈال کر کہا۔

افرا بیگم نے آنکھ کے اشارے سےاشمل  ٹوک دیا، جسے اشمل نے نظر انداز کر دیا تھا۔  مگر وہ بھی  فریال تھی ، شرمندگی تو دور اُس نے محسوس تک نہیں کیا ۔

ہنی !  کسی کی خوشی میں خوش ہونا سیکھو، پھر کوئی تم سے دور نہیں جائے گا، اور ناراض کیوں ہو رہی ہو؟  میں اپنے لیے کھانا خود نکال لوں گیکہتے ہوئے وہ نزاکت سے آگے بڑھ گئی اور اشمل بس آنکھوں کے کنارے پر موجود  آنسو ضبط کیے، انہیں جاتے ہوئے دیکھتی رہی۔ بے بسی کا کیا عالم تھا  کہ وہ اپنی حالت کا  الزام  کسی دوسرے کو نہیں دے سکتی تھی ۔  

غلطی اس عورت کی نہیں تھی جس نے اس کے والد سے شادی کی تھی، غلطی اس کے والد کی بھی نہیں تھی جنہوں نے اپنی زندگی میں آگے بڑھنا چاہا تھا، پھر غلطی کس کی تھی؟ شاید اس کی اپنی یا پھر اس کی قسمت کی جو کبھی اشمل زبیر کا ساتھ نہیں دے سکی، تھی۔
