“کیا پوچھ رہا ہوں میں؟ کس سے پوچھ کر لے گئی تھیں گرینڈما کو ۔” اسی دم اسے خیال آیا کہ جاتے وقت وہ سسٹر کو سرسری انداز میں بھی اپنے جانے کے بارے میں نہ بتا سکی تھی۔ مگر یہ کون سا انداز تھا پوچھنے اس نے ایک جھٹکے سے اپنا بازو اس کی گرفت سے آزاد کرایا اور ناراضگی سے اسے دیکھنے لگی، جس کی آنکھیں شدت جذبات سے سرخ ہو رہی تھیں۔ غالبا مومی کے انتظار میں وہ کچھ زیادہ ہی پریشانی اٹھا چکا تھا۔ “میں ڈیڑھ گھنٹے سے پاگلوں کی طرح کالونی کی سڑکوں پہ پھرتا رہا ہوں۔” اس کی گونج دار آواز اسے سما گئی۔ ایسا غصہ تو گھر میں کسی کو بھی نہیں آتا تھا۔
“مگر میں کوئی بچی تو نہیں تھی جو انہیں یا خود کو کم کردیتی۔”
