“مجھے تم سے بات۔۔” مگر اسفند یار کے باقی الفاظ منہ میں ہی رہ گئے۔ وہ ایک پل کے لیے بلکل شاکڈ رہ گیا اسکے ہاتھ کمبل پر جہاں تھے وہیں ساکت رہ گئے تھے۔ جبکہ مہزلہ اپنے بکھرے بال لیے بیٹھی تھی۔ مگر یہ چہرہ۔۔ “اب بات نہیں۔۔۔ فیصلہ ہو گا اسفند یار خان۔۔”سرخ متورم آنکھیں لیے وہ بےحد سرد اور بیٹھی ہوئی آواز میں بولی تھی۔ اسفند یار کی نگاہیں اسکے چہرے سے ہو تیں گردن تک گئیں تھیں اور اسے لگا جیسے اسکا دل کسی نے چیر دیا ہو۔ اگلے پل فاصلے مٹاتا اسکا نیل و نیل چہرہ اپنے مضبوط ہاتھوں میں بھر گیا۔ “کس نے کیا ہے یہ۔۔” ہر بات۔۔ ہر سوال۔۔ ہر شبہ جیسے اس لمحے بھول گیا تھا۔ اسکے چہرے پر درندگی کے آثار آخر کس نے چھوڑے تھے۔ کس نے اس چاند چہرے کو داغدار کیا تھا۔ اسکا نچلا لب تک سوجھ کر نیلا ہورہا تھا۔ جبکہ گلے پر انگلیوں کے نشان اور خراشیں تھیں۔ “تم سے پوچھ رہا ہوں کس نے کیا ہے یہ۔۔۔؟” وہ وحشت سے پاگل ہوتا دھاڑا تھا اور اسے جھنجھوڑ گیا۔ مگر مہزلہ! اسکی آنکھوں میں اس وقت بر فیلا سا تاثر تھا۔ “فیصلہ اسفند یار خان فیصلہ۔۔۔ سچ تو تم اپنے اپنوں کے منہ سے سن چکے ہو۔۔۔ فیصلہ کرو ابھی اور اسی وقت۔۔۔” اسکے دونوں ہاتھ اپنے چہرے کے گرد سے ہٹاتی سپاٹ لہجے میں بولی تھی۔ اور اسفند یار نھ ٹھٹھکتا اسے دیکھے گیا۔ “کیسا فیصلہ؟ کیسا سچ۔۔! مجھے بتاؤ۔ یہ کس نے کیا ہے۔” ” تمہارے بچے کو مار دیا میں نے اسفند یار تمہاری بیوی ہسپتال میں ہے۔۔ ” “مجھے بتاؤ مہزلہ یہ کس نے کیا ہے۔۔ ورنہ میں پورے گھر میں کہرام مچادوں گا۔۔۔ ” اسکا لہجہ مہزلہ سے کئی گناہ برفیلا تھا۔ جبکہ چہرے پر سخت تاثرات تھے۔ “کیا تمہیں غم نہیں اولاد کھونے کا۔۔ ! مجھے سزا نہیں دو گے۔۔ تمہاری اتنی بڑی خوشی چھین لی میں نے۔۔؟” وہ خود اذیتی کا شکار ہوتی اسے اکسا رہی تھی۔ مگر اسفند یار کے کانوں تک اسکی آواز پہنچ ہی نہیں رہی تھی۔ اسکی تمام توجہ اس بربریت کے نشانات پر تھی۔ “تم نہیں بولو گی۔۔۔؟” اس بار اسفند یار کا لہجہ دوٹوک تھا۔ مہزلہ سرد نگاہوں سے اسے دیکھتی رہی۔ اور پھر تلخی سے مسکرادی۔ “اب تو مر کر بھی نہیں ۔۔۔ ! تم فیصلہ کرواب۔ تاکہ میں اپنا بندوبست کروں ۔۔۔ “اسفند یار ایک قہر آلود نگاہ اس پر ڈالتا اٹھا تھا اور دروازے کی سمت بڑھ گیا ابھی باہر نکلا ہی تھا جب کچھ فاصلے پر کھڑیں روشینا اور زرتشہ سے نظر جا ملی۔ وہ لب بھینچتا انہی کی سمت بڑھ آیا۔
