“ارے واہ! پرانے کپڑوں والی بھی پڑھائی میں نمبر لے آئی۔”

لیکن ساتھ بیٹھی ایک بچی فوراً بولی:

“کپڑوں سے کیا ہوتا ہے؟ اصل تو عقل اور محنت ہے، اور وہ سحر میں ہے۔”

استاد نے سن کر مسکراتے ہوئے کہا:

“بالکل صحیح! یاد رکھو بچو، عزت وہی پاتا ہے جو محنت کرتا ہے۔ دولت سے صرف اچھے کپڑے مل سکتے ہیں، مگر علم سے عزت، مقام اور مستقبل بنتا ہے۔”

چھٹی کے وقت لائبہ نے دوڑ کر اس کا ہاتھ پکڑا اور بولی:

“سحر، تم بہت تیز ہو! اب سے ہم دونوں ساتھ پڑھیں گے۔”

سحر نے مسکرا کر کہا:

“ہاں، لیکن وعدہ کرو کہ ہم صرف نمبر کے لیے نہیں، بلکہ سیکھنے کے لیے پڑھیں گے۔”

لائبہ نے ہنستے ہوئے کہا:

“پکی بات!”

لیکن ایک کونے میں کھڑی دوسری لڑکی آہستہ سے بڑبڑائی:

“استاد ہر وقت اسی کی تعریف کرتے ہیں… جیسے ہم تو ہیں ہی نہیں۔”

کچھ دن بعد استاد نے پورے اسکول کے سامنے اعلان کیا:

“بچو! اس بار جو امتحان میں سب سے زیادہ نمبر لائی ہے، وہ ہے سحر!”

پوری کلاس تالیاں بجانے لگی۔

جاوید اور رضیہ نے جب یہ خبر سنیں تو ان کی آنکھوں میں آنسو آ گئے۔

جاوید نے بیٹی کو گود میں اٹھا لیا اور کہا:

“میری بیٹی نے میرا سر فخر سے بلند کر دیا۔”
