وہ جانے سے پہلے ایک بار اس سے مل کر جاتا چاہتا تھا۔ اسے خود بتانا چاہتا تھا کہ وہ اپنے وعدے کا سچا ہے۔ وہ اس کا انتظار رائیگاں جانے نہیں دے گا۔ حمنہ سے پوچھتے ہوئے وہ اسے ڈھونڈتے ہوئے لان کے اس حصے کی طرف چلا آیا تھا۔

اپنے نام کی پکار پر وہ چونکی ضرور مگر اسے دیکھنے سے گریز کرتے ہوئے وہ رخ پھیرے کھڑی رہی۔ ان تین دنوں میں وہ ایک بار بھی اسے دیکھ نہیں پایا تھا اور اب بھی وہ اس کا ضبط آزما نحر کے درپے تھی۔

شہر یار کے گمان میں بھی نہیں تھا کہ بھی ایک کومل سا چہرہ ۔ ایک نازک ساوجود اس کے لیے اس حد تک ضروری ہو جائے گا کہ اس کے سامنے اس کی میاری مضبوطی، بے اختیاری ، کمزوری میں ڈھل جائے گی۔

میری طرف دیکھو نوال ڈھلتے سورج کی تاریخی کر نہیں اس کے چہرے پر پڑتی اس کی رنگت کو دمکا رہی تھیں ۔ اس کا چہرہ آنکھوں میں جذب کرتے

شہر یار کی آنکھوں چلنے لگیں۔

دو تم جانتی ہوتاں میری بے بسی اور مجبوری ۔ ہاں ۔ اس کے لب ہے۔ اب بہت اچھی

طرح سے جان گئی ہوں کہ آپ کتنے بے بس اور مجبور

ہیں۔ سر جھکائے اپنی کلائی میں پڑے بریسلٹ یسے کھیلتے ہوئے اس کے لہجے میں عجیب سی چھن تھی۔ اسی لیے خود کو سمجھا لیا کیونکہ میں نہیں ہوں

بے بس اور مجبور میں جو چاہوں وہ کہ چاہوں وہ کر سکتی ہوں۔“ اس نے اچانک ہی سر اٹھا کر اس کی آنکھوں یا آنکھیں ڈالی تھیں۔ میں

شہر یار کتنی ہی دیر اس کی سرمئی آنکھوں میں تیرتے گلابی ڈورے دیکھتا رہا۔

اور تم کیا چاہتی ہو؟

کمال ہے۔ وہ آپ کو ان تین دنوں میں سمجھ میں نہیں آیا؟ پوچھتے ہوئے اس کی آنکھوں میں استہزا ابھرا تھا۔ شہر یار کی کشادہ پیشانی پر کئی سلوٹیں پڑیں۔ لب بے اختیار پہنچ گئے ۔
